Catherine Staunton
Candidate for Board of Education

Catherine Staunton, Board of Education

As a dedicated member of the Board of Education (BOE) for the past five years, I have played a crucial role in shaping the future of education within our community. My commitment is evident through my active involvement in various BOE committees, including the Personnel Committee, Instruction Committee, Public Affairs Committee, and Wellness Committee. This multifaceted engagement reflects my unwavering dedication to improving our students’ educational experience while considering our town’s needs.

Before joining the BOE, I devoted a decade to active participation in the Clinton Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), emphasizing my long-standing commitment to enhancing our local education system.

I am proud to be an alumna of Northeastern University, where I earned a degree in Physical Therapy. Since relocating to Clinton in 2000 with my husband, James, I have worked as a physical therapist, providing essential care to communities along the Connecticut Shoreline.

Additionally, I am a retired Lieutenant Commander with the United States Navy, having served honorably for over 20 years in the Medical Service Corps. This military service underscores my commitment to selfless service and leadership.

Beyond my professional and civic engagements, my greatest joy comes from family life. I have been happily married to my husband, James, for the past 26 years. We have raised three wonderful children, MaryKate, Seamus, and Aidan, who received their education in the Clinton School System.
